The struggle for job creation and poverty eradication within the craft sector is no longer the responsibility of government but of both the Civil Society, Business and Entrepreneurs who are ready to come up with innovate ways to assist in pushing the frontiers of poverty
HOW WE ASSIST ARTISANS
We support, promote and develop Artisans to becoming professionals and entrepreneurs in Art work.
We provide Craft Skills Development, Training and Assessment to the unemployed and youth in rural areas.
Research & Development
We work in areas of Research in the Arts & Craft Sector, International Festivals, Exhibitions and Markets.
Exhibitions and Markets
At MTAM we believe in creating interventions linking both Emerging and Master Artisans in building bridges to access Markets. We provide opportunities for artisans to go on Arts & Culture tours to experience and meet artists from other countries.
Art Gallery Management
Part of our service offering is setting up and management of Art Galleries.
The baskets and the people who bought them have given me wings to fly. The organisers of the market must keep it up” I have enjoyed coming to the MTAM Market since it started 2009.
Xhosa Basket Maker
I have a lot of orders to deliver when I get home” I want to thank Mpumalanga Traditional Art Market for believing in us.
This gives me a chance to sell to a clientele I could not reach on my own. My embroidery artwork has now been sourced by Corporate clients because of MTAM.
The Market has provided me the opportunity to showcase my Pottery to more people that did not know that the Matibe family has worked on Pottery for many years and we have been able to send our children to school because of the income generated through our Pottery.
I want to personally thank MTAM for grooming us as young artists and giving us an opportunity to sell every year when the Market comes around. I am inspired and thankful that my natural beads are not appreciated by so many people I met at the Market.
Get involved and be part of this great initiative.
